Pakistan’s 1958 stamp issues cover national government, literature, human rights and the Scout movement. The year opened philatelically with a stamp marking the second anniversary of Republic Day, featuring a coconut tree as an agricultural and regional motif. A three-stamp commemorative series honoured the twentieth death anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the philosopher-poet whose political thought played an important role in the intellectual foundations of Pakistan. The designs incorporate poetic and symbolic elements associated with Iqbal’s message. Another two-stamp issue commemorated the tenth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, using the Charter and globe to express international ideals of dignity and freedom. The final issue marked the Second National Scouts Jamboree and included Scouting symbolism together with industrial imagery. Historically, 1958 was a major turning point: the constitution was abrogated in October, martial law was imposed, and General Muhammad Ayub Khan became President. Philatelic Hub catalogues the individual stamps from PK95 to PK102. These issues collectively preserve the cultural achievements and political contrasts of a decisive year in Pakistan’s early history.
